Behind the scenes at NORA

At NORA, it’s one of our favourite times of the year. Not simply because of the events themselves, but because of the conversations they create. After years of bringing this community together, it’s a privilege to hear leaders openly share what’s working, what’s difficult and what’s next.

It’s also a big few days for the NORA team.

Between our Digital Retail Leaders Roundtable, Leaders Breakfast, podcast studio and everything happening across Online Retailer, it was a busy and exhilarating few days, with the energy that comes from having so much of the industry together in one place.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, there was a little unexpected magic.

As we headed onto the Online Retailer expo floor to meet Mal Chia and the team, Australian magician Jackson Aces stopped us in our tracks with an impossible card trick.

A card with my name on it, written in someone else’s handwriting, appeared from a wallet.

A few minutes later, he drew a symbol on his own hand, only for it to somehow appear on mine.

We still have no idea how he did it.

It was one of those wonderfully unexpected moments that made everyone stop, laugh and simply enjoy being there.

A little moment of wonder in the middle of a very busy week.

Thank you, Jackson, for reminding us that sometimes the smallest, most unexpected moments are the ones we remember longest.
